Hyundai is Top Non-Premium Automaker in J.D. Power Owner-Satisfaction Study

Hyundai LogoJust a short month after leading all non-premium brands in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality study, Hyundai became the first non-luxury car ever to top both the IQS and APEAL surveys in the same year. While the IQS study measures the amount of problems a car-owner has with his or her new car over the first 90 days of ownership, the aptly-named APEAL study ranks overall purchase satisfaction. By topping both, Hyundai definitively proves its cars are not just well-made and built with high-quality parts, but also are a true pleasure to own.

The APEAL study — which stands for Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout — surveyed more than 86,000 people after their first 90 days of owning a vehicle and asked them to rate their satisfaction with the car across 77 categories. These ratings are interpreted into a score on a thousand-point scale, and the higher the rating, the better the reviews. Hyundai led non-luxury cars with an impressive score of 804.

As well as ranking overall brands, the APEAL study also gives satisfaction awards to individual models. The Hyundai Accent was rated the best small car, with a score of 782. The Accent sports a comfortable, roomy interior and colorful exterior, all for an incredibly affordable price, making it easy to see why so many people consider it a great buy.

Super Bowl XLVIII is behind us, and we’d like to congratulate the Seahawks on their victory! Right now, you’re probably in front of your computer still digesting last night’s enormous intake of food – so what better way to spend the day than by re-watching some of your favorite commercials?

The automotive industry was once again well represented during the Super Bowl. Volkswagen made its fifth straight Game Day appearance with a TV spot titled “Wings,” which included a father telling his daughter that each time a VW vehicle hits 100,000 miles, a German engineer gets his wings. Meanwhile, Hyundai’s two commercials promoted the 2015 Genesis and 2014 Elantra, the latter of which featured “Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki.
